Automatic fleet management for Tesla
At one of Plat4mation’s hackathon projects, some of my colleagues and me made an integration with the unofficial Tesla API.
Aside from it being very cool and technically challenging, it also added a lot of business value.
With our solution, we provided the following business value:
- Automation of fleet management: An enterprise organisation, which offers the possibility for their employees to borrow a car, often struggles with managing the fleet when it’s substantial in size. We made the solution managable and fully automated.
- Visibility of employee conduct abidance: by feeding the data of all cars per leding period in ServiceNow’s Metric Intelligence, we were able to notice any anomal use of a Tesla. Users were scored based on their driving behavior and battery consumption/charging.
Also, the solution provided a lot of ease for the end users as well:
- No need for a key: using the application we’ve build in the Now Mobile app, end users were able to make a reservation and locate & unlock the designated car when their approved borrow period started. Therefore, no exchange of any physical key is required at the beginning nor at the end of their borrow period.
- Personal preferences are preset: the preferences of the use of the car are being kept in a custom ServiceNow table. Preferences ranged from the desired temperature to the position of the drivers seat and mirrors. Also the car’s radio is being preset to the desired channel or Spotify playlist of the user, and the navigation system is preset to the desired destination.
